Joan Barbara Jennings passed away Sept. 10. 2016,
at Providence St. Mary Medical Center. She was 84
years old. Joan was born in New York City on Dec.
28, 1931, to Commodore Perry and Grace Alee Lickey
Barr.
Joan lived most of her growing up years in St. Helens,
Ore., with a short time spent living with her
paternal grandmother in New York. She married
Jack W. Jennings on Dec. 8, 1948, in Vancouver, Ore.
They started their married life living in St. Helens,
and then moved to California on June 12, 1949. They
moved more than 30 times in the northern California
area and then retired in Walla Walla in 1990. She
enjoyed 58 years of marriage to her beloved husband
Jack, who passed away on Feb. 21, 2007.
Joan is survived by four children, Connie Trotter,
Sidney (Audrey) Jennings, Renee (Jerry) Cederquist
and Cynthia Berryman; 12 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren
and one great-great grandchild. She
is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Barr; two
brothers, Wendell Barr and Herbert Barr. She was
preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jack;
two brothers, George Barr and Douglas Barr; sonin-
laws, Mark Trotter and David Berryman; greatgrandchild,
Troy Meyer.
Joan was an experienced seamstress making all of
her clothes over the years, enjoyed quilting, especially
miniature quilts, and had a passion for walking every
day. She was also very passionate about her birds.
She was a member of the Central Christian Church.
The funeral service will be held this Saturday, Sept.
17, at 2 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home,
315 West Alder, Walla Walla. Memorial contributions
may be made to Disabled American Vets, Salvation
Army or Charity of Choice thru the funeral home.
