Jill passed away peacefully Jan. 12,
2016, at home surrounded by her family.
Jill was born to Donald and Florence “Dood” Dubbledee in Walla Walla. She was a happy baby and brought joy to everyone.
She attended Green Park, Prospect Point, Garrison and graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1983. She attended Eastern Washington University graduating in 1987, she went on later to achieve her masters degree.
She began her teaching career at Assumption in 1989, where she taught for 27 years. She was active in all aspects of the Catholic school. She taught and touched the lives of hundreds of children,
was loved by all staff and parents. She received a prestigious Teacher of the Year award in 2015. Her dedication and drive for teaching never waived even through her illness, which inspired everyone around her. Always energetic, positive and sweet, Jill fought passionately to the end of her illness.
April 4, 1992, she married Scott Lee Montgomery, her beloved husband. They enjoyed a full, active, happy life, surrounded by family and many friends and were avid Seahawks fans. They were involved in Catholic school functions, events and charity work.
They were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Ashton Dawn Montgomery, Dec. 6, 1994, who brought them joy for all of their days.
Jill was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, daughter in- law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, friend and teacher, with a friendly upbeat spirit for life and living, a radiant smile and a laugh that will be remembered.
Jill is survived by her parents, Don and Dood; father in- law, Dale Montgomery; daughter, Ashton; sisters, Jacklyn Thornton and Julie (Michael) Lill; nieces and nephews, James Thornton, Alexander Thornton, Tuesday Rose Thornton, Chase (Natalia) Strohmier, Andrea (John) Neill; aunt, Catherine Smith; sister in- law, LaVone (Jeff) Strohmier; brother-in-law, Greg Montgomery; cousin, Deborah Roberts.
Preceded in death by her husband, Scott; mother-in-law, Elaine Montgomery.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Parish, 2098 East Alder Street. Memorial service and celebration of Jill’s beautiful life will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 16.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions in Jill’s name to Dr. Leong Clinical Trial Resource on Gall Bladder Cancer at University of Colorado Anschutz Cancer Center, Arora, Colo.,
