Jennifer Christean Sumerlin

Jennifer Sumerlin, age 40, passed away Sept. 25, 2012, surrounded by family and friends. She fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Jennifer was born Dec. 29, 1971, in Des Moines, Iowa to Jeri Wilhelm. Jennifer attended Walla Walla High School, Walla Walla Community College and graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Developmental Psychology.

Jennifer married Jeremy Sumerlin and later divorced. They had 2 children, Kylee Sumerlin and Brenden Sumerlin. Being a parent was the highpoint of her life. Jennifer enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. There was never a person that met her that didn’t like her.

Jennifer is survived by her children, Kylee Sumerlin and Brenden Sumerlin; her mother, Jeri Wilhelm of Vista, Calif.; her sister, Amie Hofstad of Vista, Calif.

A celebration of Jennie’s life will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Blue Mountain Community Church, 925 Sturm St., with Rev. James Snyder officiating. Contributions may be made to Providence St. Mary Cancer Center, J.U.G.S or Jennifer Sumerlin Memorial Fund through the Herring Funeral Home.
