College Place

Jeffrey William Fetter was born to William and Maxine Fetter on April 27, 1948. Jeff grew up in Walla Walla with his brother Roy. He graduated from WA-HI in 1966 and attended WWCC, where he studied Business Machines. In 1968 he married Carol Schmaltz, and they had two children, Annette in 1969 and Mike in 1973. When their children were young, they moved to Nebraska to work at a Boys' ranch. They stayed in Nebraska for seven years, where Jeff also worked selling religious books door to door. Eventually, they moved back to the Walla Walla Valley, where Jeff and Carol divorced.

Jeff enjoyed a variety of work opportunities over the years, including WWC dairy, Jubilee Youth Ranch, Sales, Construction, Painting, and Maintenance. His favorite jobs included working with animals and mentoring young people.

Jeff married Sheril Salt in 1991, and they welcomed Jeremy in 1998. Jeff enjoyed spending time with his wife and his three children, and their families. Many happy times were enjoyed at family dinners and holiday celebrations, and church and community activities.

During his free time, Jeff could be found outdoors hiking, gardening, mountain biking, or helping friends and family, and serving his church family.

Jeff passed away on February 26, 2023, with his loving wife and youngest son by his side after a long battle with Parkinson's. Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother. Jeff is survived by his wife, Sheril; daughter, Annette; sons, Mike and Jeremy; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several unofficial grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
