Jeanne Deeringhoff was born on July 19, 1939 and passed away peacefully in her home on April 26th surrounded by her family.
Jeanne was born in Portland, OR to Claude and Willa “Babe” Wagoner. She moved to Walla Walla at a young age, attending St. Patrick’s Catholic School for most of her education. It was there that she began dating the love of her life, Lewis Deeringhoff. Jeanne was active in school, enjoying drama, choir and cheerleading.
She could often be found enjoying her great talents of sewing, stamping, crafting, and gardening. Her professional career was spent in various roles of bookkeeping eventually retiring from the Business Office at Whitman College.
Jeanne and Lew married in 1960 and together raised five children. The house was never void of kids and activity, especially at Christmas. Christmas at the Deeringhoff’s was a child’s dream come true from the extensive decorations to the abundance of sweet treats and all the trimmings. She had a special knack for making all kids feel at home and was called “mom” by many. As time passed, the friends of her adult children began adopting her, yearning to be a part of the very special love she had nurtured within her family.
Jeanne is survived by her five children, Stacie (Jeff) Mittelman of Mill Creek, WA, Lori (Pat) Wahl of Walla Walla, WA, Amy (Lee) Ford of Kennewick, WA, Heidi Burton (Livermore, CA) and Dan (Sandi) Deeringhoff of Denver, NC and 12 grandchildren: Jessica, Joel, Travis, Ben, Tyler, Mac, Maddie, Janee, Paige, Gabby, Addie and Nate as well as great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Sue (Mel) Towne and Joan Bughi. She was preceded in death by her husband Lew and her sister Nola “Mike” Spence.
