Roy Powell was born in Max, Neb., on Feb. 9, 1928, to Roy and Valeria Powell.
He attended schools in Max, sometime later the family moved to Walla Walla. Roy joined the Navy, spending time in different parts of China until his discharge in 1948. His first wife, Betty, preceded
him in death.
He was employed by Walla Walla Road Department and retired in March of 1988. He and his wife, Patty, married March 20, 1982, and enjoyed their RV and spent about five years wintering in Arizona.
He is survived by sons, Robert of Vancouver, Wash.,and David of Spokane; daughter, Joan Jundt of Walla Walla; numerous grandchildren; step-children, Jane and Dale Wilson of Walla Walla, and Craig Pemberton of Seattle.
Roy especially enjoyed his morning coffee group at Super One. For many years he was part of the group that never missed a day if possible.
Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, March 2, from 2-7 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder. Funeral service will be Thursday, March 3, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a burial at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Cancer Center through the funeral home.
