Jay Lewis Abrams, 71, of Walla Walla, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014.
Jay was born in Walla Walla on Oct. 3, 1942, to Laverne and Francis Abrams. He lived in Walla Walla until his high school graduation in 1960. He then attended Washington State University from 1960-1961 and also attended the University of California.
In 1961, Jay and Claudia Oldham married and moved to Sacramento, Calif. They were married for 20 years and then divorced. He worked at McClellan AFB as an aircraft electrician and at the Department of Defense. He moved back to Walla Walla and married Rita Jensen Abrams. He worked at Key Technology until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved all of his neighbors through the years as they were friends. He enjoyed yard sales as he loved to collect things. That was his hobby. He loved his dog, Bubba. He loved to spend time at his property and enjoyed working in the yard.
Jay leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; children, Vicki Lynn Shingleton, Mindy Walker (Kevin), Ryan Jensen (Judy), Brad Jensen. Jay was preceded in death by sons, Theodore Lynn Abrams, Timothy Jay Abrams; mother, Lavern Abrams; father, Francis Abrams; and wife, Rita Jensen Abrams.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday May 6, 2014, at Mountain View Cemetery with Rev. Steve Morris officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315
