James E. White, 95 passed away at his home in Walla Walla on May 8, 2012.
Jim was born to Edward C. and Cora E. La Barr White on July 4, 1916, in Opheim, Mont. He joined the C.C.C. in 1935 and the N.Y.A. in 1936. Jim worked for Nelson Taxi Company in Glasgow, Mont.; Interior Grocery Company, Walla Walla School District and the city of Walla Walla.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Barbra; son, Allen White (Nancy) of Milwaukie, Ore.; step-children, Lori DeWitt (Mike) of Walla Walla; Nancy Everts of Spokane; Melanie Portwood (Loren) of Kelso, Wash.;
James Barr (Abby) of Dallas, Pa.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and cousins; and his daughter in heart, Marie Day of Richland. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Viola;
Jim’s parents; and his daughter, Delilah Valiante.
Viewing and visitation will be held at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home on Friday, May 11, 2012, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled
for Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Graham of Pioneer United Methodist Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society or the Christian Aid Center through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W.
