James Joseph Webster

November 23, 1937 — December 8, 2011

James Joseph Webster, a lifelong resident of the Walla Walla Valley, died in his home in the evening of December 8th, 2011.

Mr. Webster, (Jim), 74, was born in 1937 in Walla Walla, Washington to Lehla and Joe T. Webster. Jim was a graduate of Walla Walla High School in 1956. He then served 2 years in the United States Marine Corps. After finishing his service to the U.S. Government he returned to Walla Walla and was employed at William's Lumber Company.

Jim also worked in construction for Braden Construction Company and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers from 1970 until the time of his death. Jim was a gifted mechanic and an avid outdoors man. He loved hunting with his close friends annually in Meacham, Oregon for deer and fishing often in the Blue Mountains and on the Columbia River. Jim loved outdoor sports, snowmobiling and riding motorcycles and in his retirement years, he purchased and learned how to fly a gyro copter.

Jim was proud of the fact that he was surrounded by many friends; if you were a friend of Jim's you were a friend for a lifetime. His family and friends will happily recall his quick wit, funny sense of humor, and uncanny ability to change the tenor of a difficult mood into a joyful moment by delivering a lighthearted perspective that most people would miss without his presence.

Jim is survived by his 2 sisters, Margi (Dick) Zahler and Linda Ann Cook; Lois Fuller, mother of his 3 daughters, Jamie (Jaeson) Dubrovay, Jill (Bruce) Tubbs and Jana Caye (Daniel) Hartzheim, Patricia Webster, mother of his son, Tyrone Webster; his 10 grandchildren, Robert, Bennet, Spencer, Kristine, Joe, Chloe, Noah, Sophie, Mercedes and Natalie and a great grand daughter, Isabelle.

Viewing & visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
