James Lee McClure, 86, of College Place, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 12, 2018.
James (Jim) was born in Roseburg, Oregon to Roy McClure and Ruth Smith McClure on April 18, 1932, and was raised in Sweet Home, Oregon with his 7 siblings.
Jim was married three times and was blessed with six children. Dennis, Cheryl, Rick, Kathy, Patricia and Stefan, who he lovingly spoke of on a regular basis to anyone who would listen.
Jim was married to his third wife Margaret (Maggie) Vandeburgh McClure for 46 years and together raised her son Stefan. Jim and Stefan shared a love of hunting and went whenever their schedules permitted them to take off for a couple of days.
Jim served in the United State Air Force. Jim and Maggie lived in Lake Forest near Susanville, CA, until 1991 when they decided to move to Hamilton, Washington on a beautiful piece of property along the Skagit River. While living in Hamilton, Jim joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, he and Maggie were sealed in the Bountiful Utah Temple on June 13, 2000.
Jim is survived by his wife, Maggie; his six children, 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 12 nieces and nephews and is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruth; and his grandchild, Patrick.
Special thanks to Michael and Carol of Hospice, Sharon of Home Care Services of Walla Walla and his granddaughter Jennifer for all of the support and love they provided Jim during his last months.
Celebration of life services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1821 S. 2nd Ave, Walla Walla at 2 p.m. on January 19, 2019.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice through Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla.
