Helen Maxine Smith

Helen Maxine Smith, 74, passed away peacefully August 3rd, 2012, at Washington Odd Fellows Home in Walla Walla Washington.

Mrs. Smith was born June 14, 1938 in Hood River Oregon to Chester and Winnie Slaughter. She attended school in Oklahoma. She was the youngest of nine children.

In 1955, she married Louis Smith in Reno Nevada. They traveled the Northwest working construction. Helen was a mother and homemaker all her life. They moved to Waitsburg in 1989, after Louie retired from construction, to make it their home.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Richard Largent of Waitsburg and Terry and Joseph Taller of Kent, WA, and a son Jerry Smith of Walla Walla. She has six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death her husband of 52 years, Louis Smith, and 2 brothers and 3 sisters. At her request there will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.

She will be greatly missed.
