Helen was a lifelong resident of Walla Walla County. She was born in Walla Walla but raised in Wallula, WA, where her father was a conductor on the Union Pacific Railroad.
Her family moved to Walla Walla shortly before Helen started high school. After high school, Helen attended Washington State, earning a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and early childhood development.
She married Dwaine Brown on October 3, 1949, and had one son, Neil.
Helen was a long-time Walla Walla High School employee, enjoying over 20 years there. She enjoyed golfing, where she won several local tournaments. Helen loved reading and knitting, hobbies she picked up as a young girl. In addition, she was an avid bridge player with “the girls.”
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Neil J. and Irene O’Hearn, and her loving husband, Dwaine (Don) Brown.
She is survived by her son, Neil Brown (Sheryl) of Spokane, WA; grandson, Neil J. Brown (Tiffany); great-granddaughter “Ladybug” of Jupiter, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Helen’s request, a small family burial was held at Mountain View Cemetery.
