Heather Star Brown, 45, of College Place, WA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at Providence St. Mary Medical Center's intensive care unit, on March 15, 2026, after a short battle with cancer.
Heather was born on October 20, 1980, in Burley, ID, to Earl and Karen Brown, attended Milton-Stateline and Rogers schools, and Walla Walla Valley Academy. She graduated from Walla Walla University's School of Social Work with a master’s degree. She worked as a nanny and locally with people who had disabilities.
Heather had a sweet, loving spirit that endeared her to her family and friends alike. She loved pottery, art, cake decorating, scrapbooking, and shared her talent with others. She had craft skills, including making driftwood villages, jewelry, and beading. She was an excellent party planner and hosted many parties for family and friends.
Heather is survived by her parents, her sister, Kristina Rasmussen, her brother-in-law, Mike, and their children, Evelyn and Emery. Lifelong friends, Brandi Poncey, Darcy Dillard, Jon and Erica Bates, and best friends Kristen Hansen, Jamie Olsen, Trish Hensel, and Holly Gastin.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Stateline Church, Milton-Freewater, OR.
Because she loved volunteering, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Mountain Therapeutic Riding through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W Alder St, Walla Walla, WA 99362. Friends and family are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.herringgroseclose.com.
