Harvey Brewer, 85 of Walla Walla passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Walla Walla General Hospital. He was the second son of Wm. Marshall and Glena Brewer. His place of birth was Tulsa, Oklahoma although many believed he was born in Gentry, Arkansas. His family relocated to Milton-Freewater, Oregon when he was two years old. He graduated in June 1946 from Walla Walla College Academy.

He married his first wife, Janis Strong in 1947 and they had three children, Sherri, Mark and Randy. They were later divorced.

On March 19, 1977, he married the “love of his life,” Bernice. He said it was a marriage made in heaven. Harvey and Bernice continued to live in La Grande, Oregon until 1983 when they moved to Renton, WA.

He worked at Harris Pine Mill, and was a lumberjack near Baker, Oregon. He was an outside salesman for Millers Supply for 18 years. He decided to start his own business in La Grande which he did sell later to Millers Supply; however he stayed as Manager. In 1983 he went to work for Puget Sound Electrical Supply in Seattle and worked for them for nine years. When he retired in 1992, he started a wire savage side-business.

He was an excellent pitcher in fast-pitch softball, often substituting on the team known as the King and His Court. He coached men’s and women’s softball teams. He was an above average bowler and a 4-Handicap golfer. He made three holes-in-one at Walla Walla Country Club; two of which came within the same month.

On May 12, 1982, he received a “Citizens Commendation” from the La Grande Police Department for assisting and later investigating a robbery/kidnapping that resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals.

Harvey considered everyone he met as a friend. He touched the lives of many people. He will be missed.

He is survived by his wife Bernice and his little Pug “Tigar,” sons, Randy Brewer of Marysville, CA, Mark Brewer of College Place, WA; and daughter, Sherri Huston of Hillsboro, OR; two stepchildren, Caren Sherman, Pueblo, CO, and Ryan Wardell, Hillsboro, OR; eleven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and nephew, Tom Brewer of Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and only brother.
