Harold W. Raugust

Harold Raugust, age 87, passed away August 18, 2014 at the Odd Fellows Home in Walla Walla, WA with his family at his side.

He was born to Fred & Matilda Raugust on March 15, 1927 in Odessa, Washington. Harold attended school in Milton Freewater, Oregon and worked as a farm hand before serving in the Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. After returning home, Harold married Bonnie Wolff. They were married for 63 years.

Before his 30 year career with the Washington State Penitentiary, he worked at various jobs in Milton Freewater, Seattle and Walla Walla. Harold was a member of the VFW, Elks, Eagles & the Historical Auto Club. He held offices in the local union associated with his work at the penitentiary and was an active volunteer with the VFW & RSVP.

He & Bonnie attended the Blue Mountain Community Church. They also enjoyed dancing & traveling together. His other interests included socializing with friends, bird hunting, watching football and following politics and current events.

Harold is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his daughters, Connie Haanes & husband Tod, Diana Hall & husband, Bill; his brother, Don Raugust & wife Donna; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristopher and Erik; three great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents & a sister, Dorothy Phillips.

A private graveside service in Walla Walla will be followed by a Celebration of Life in Denver, Colorado at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 992 through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, Washington.
