Gordon passed away suddenly at home on Feb. 26, 2014. Gordon was born in Fremont, Ohio, to Vivian Richey. He is preceded in death by his mother, Vivian; his brother, Tom Topel; his sister, Tammy; and a son-in-law, Damond Johnsen. Gordon is survived by brothers, Bill McGimsey, Melvin Topel; sister, Bea Locati; four daughters, Dena Brown, Seattle, Becky Johnson, Portland, Brandi Locke, Tacoma, Kelli Campbell, Walla Walla; also nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Gordon worked for the post office for many years, where he just recently retired. Gordon also served in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1970. Gordon had a huge love for football; he enjoyed bowling, playing cards, farming, and visiting his family and friends. He made monthly contributions to several charities. He was selfless in his generosity to friends and family. He was always the first to offer a hand when needed. He always put his kids before anything. Gordon has left a huge void in many lives. He and his “dry sense of humor” and contagious laugh will be greatly missed. “Gone, but never forgotten” A service will be held for Gordon on April 12, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Herring Funeral Home.
