Former Touchet resident Goldie Marie McCubbins passed away on November 25, 2024, at Regency at the Park, College Place, WA.

Goldie was born June 29, 1930, in Parsons, KS, to Delbert and Alice (Green) Gamblain. She married Joseph Beaver in 1946; they had two daughters and later divorced. Goldie then married Lawrence Brooks in 1950, and they had four children. They later divorced. Goldie and the children moved to Touchet in 1962, where she met L.D. McCubbins. Goldie and L.D. married on December 20, 1965, and raised their combined Family on the family farm. They also raised a grandson, Danny Young.

An avid homemaker, Goldie was famous for her baking skills and won many ribbons at the local fair and other competitions. She was also an accomplished crocheter and gifted these items to her family and friends. Her specialty was the “Pineapple” doily pattern. She passed on this talent to her daughters and granddaughters.

Goldie was an active member of the Two Rivers Chapel in Touchet, the Grange Auxillary, and the Touchet Grange #250.

Goldie is survived by her children: Connie Dirks(the late David) of LaGrande, OR, Lynn Meyer (Rex) of Milton-Freewater, OR, and Ellen (Doug) Bender of Milton-Freewater, OR; sister, Linda Weakley of Parsons, KS; Stepchildren: Darlene(Marty) Schmid of Marana, AZ, Eileen(Jim) Daniel of Walla Walla, WA, Malinda(the late Shawn) Prendiville of Walla Walla, WA, and Michael (Julie) McCubbins of Touchet, WA; fourteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her husband L.D., two sons, Tommie and George (Bub) Brooks, daughters Carol Jackson and Sibyl Johnson, brother Donnie Gamblain and sisters Barbra Treoster and Eva Heine, stepson Robert McCubbins and stepdaughter Evelyn Patterson, grandson Danny Young and granddaughter Amber Wood.

The Family would like to thank Herring-Groseclose and Regency at the Parks staff and management for the many years of caring for our Mother and Grandmother.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of the Herring Funeral Home, 315 W Alder St, Walla Walla, with Pastor Joe Rhymes officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, 742 S Myra Rd, College Place. Friends are invited to visit with family after the service in the Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens Reception Hall.
