Glenn H. Blakely

Glenn was called home to his Lord on November 22, 2012 at home in College Place at the age of 91. He was born in Colby, Kansas to Glen Edson Blakely & Mildred (Berry) Blakely. The family came to the West in 1935 because of the Dust Bowl. His dad & Glenn both joined the carpenter union; Glenn was only 17 years old. Then, when WWII started, he joined the Navy.

He married Irene Sluys and had 3 children, Sharon, Sandra & Steven in Walla Walla. They moved to Bellingham and he built houses. They later divorced. He came back to Milton Freewater, Oregon where his mom & dad lived.

He married again to Judy (Schiffman) Fowler and welcomed her boys, Matt & Todd. They decided to move to Bellingham. After 19 years, they moved to back to Walla Walla to help Judy’s parents and decided to stay here.

He leaves behind his wife, Judy at the home; children, Sharon & husband Clayton of Bellingham, Sandra & partner Patrick of Bellingham, Steven & wife Kathy of Lynden, WA, Matt Fowler & wife Lynn of Emmett, ID and Todd Fowler of Missoula, MT; his sister, Arlene Widner of Milton Freewater, OR; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents & brother, Wayne Blakely.

There will be a private family interment. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society through the Professional Funeral Directors & Crematory, 2112 S. 2nd, Walla Walla, WA.
