Geraldine Ann Park, 85, died September 20, 2025, at her home in College Place, Washington.
Geraldine “Gerry” was born in Washington, DC, educated in Colorado, Montana, Germany, Japan, and Libya. She has a degree from the University of Montana in Music and a Master’s degree in Education.
Gerry taught Elementary School in Montana and Oregon before joining the Department of Defense Overseas Schools. Since joining DODDS, she has taught in Germany and Japan.
Accordingly, Gerry’s varied residences and extensive travels throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, and the Far East have provided an array of artistic inspirations that she readily incorporated into her painting. Gerry felt that “Painting provides an emotional outlet that I can culminate on canvas and boards, which depict an array of moods, energies, and styles.” Her use of mixed media enhances and captivates the viewer in a bold, graphic, yet personable painting genre.
For a time, she resided in a beach house near Kuru-wa Beach, Akiya —a natural haven with moody shores and jutting mountain slopes. This environment provided an ongoing resource of colors, textures, and tones, which reflected in her acrylic and oil landscapes. Other pursuits included photography, skiing, and writing.
A nicheside service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM, at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S 2nd Ave, Walla Walla, WA.
