Heaven gained another Angel on December 11, 2018, when Geraldine Leona Albers, 90, passed away at the Washington Odd Fellows Home in Walla Walla.
She was born April 8, 1928, to Gerald Mawhin and Dorothy Nelson. Her parents moved to Walla Walla in 1929 where Geraldine attended local schools. She married Glade Edler, August 19, 1944; they lived in Washington, Utah, and Nevada. They had three children, Raymond, Allen and Debbie (Hudspeth). She divorced from her first husband in 1971.
Geraldine married John Albers of Walla Walla in 1972. Besides Walla Walla, they lived in College Place. Geraldine’s livelihood was centered around caring for her family; she ensured solid values and was always a guiding compass for her children and grandchildren.
She worked at Martin Archery for a number of years performing various duties and tasks to ensure their products were of the highest of quality. She dearly enjoyed home making, yardwork, gardening, flower arranging, oil painting, crocheting, reading, scrapbooking, and genealogy. Together, John and Geraldine belonged to the Lutheran Church and were active in many church activities.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, her parents, and her brother, Donald.
She leaves behind three children, two step-children, Claudia and Jack Albers; six grandchildren and five great-grand-children. She is also survived by three sisters, Betty Harpe, Wilma Kliehn, June Young; and brother, Frank Mawhin.
Viewing will be from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m., December 17, at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder. The graveside service and burial will be 9:30 a.m., December 18, at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S. Second Ave. The Rev. Stephen Jurgenson of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Walla Walla through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Washington Odd Fellows and Community Hospice of Walla Walla for the loving and respectful care they provided Geraldine during her residence there since 2011.
