Jerry was born in Eagle Rock, California on May 31, 1936 to Jesse LeRoy Musick and Dolly Pearl Musick. Jerry was the youngest of five children. He had an older brother, Joe Musick, and three older sisters, Shirley Bengston, Patsy Cooper, and Louise Burt.
Jerry joined the Navy when he was seventeen years old. He served in the Navy from 1953 to 1955, after being discharged from the Navy he joined the Air Force from 1955 to 1958. While in the Air Force, he served overseas in Iceland.
He met Shirley Harris and they were married on August 16, 1958, in Highland Park, Calif. Shirley had two young sons, Frank Harris and Wesley Harris when they were married. In 1961, they welcomed a daughter, Jerri Lynn, to the family. He and his family moved to Walla Walla, Wa. from West Convina, Calif. in May of 1968. In Walla Walla, he worked for Crown Cork and Seal from 1969 to 1996, when he retired after 27 years.
Jerry always had a dream about learning how to fly; in 1970, he started taking flying lessons in Pendleton, Oregon. He completed his training and was able to get his pilot license in 1972, fulfilling his dream of flying his own airplane. His hobby was also collecting old Radio Shows from the 1930’s, 1940’s and the 1950’s. He was quite the Radio Show buff! If you had a question about any of them, he was the go to guy for the answers.
Jerry and Shirley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2008 with their family and friends by renewing their wedding vows.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Shirley at home; his two step-sons, Frank Harris of Walla Walla, WA., Wesley Harris and his wife Connie from Prescott, AZ; his daughter, Jerri Lynn Lawson and her husband Dan from College Station, TX. He has three sisters-in-law, Beverly Kuljis of Walla Walla, WA, Nancy Hubbard of Newark, CA, and Rosemary Musick of El Monte, CA and one brother-in-law, Clyde Hubbard of Newark, CA. He has 7 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, also by his brother and his three sisters, a brother-in-law, Jack Kuljis and other brother in-law and sister-in-law, George and Velma Riley.
Viewing & visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Blue Mountain Community Church with Reverend James Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society or the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
