Gerald Ward Brunton

June 19, 1927 — March 11, 2012

Gerald Ward Brunton made his transition at the Odd Fellows East Care Infirmary on Sunday, March 11, 2012. He was born on June 19, 1927, in Walla Walla,
to Reese and Margaret Brunton. He is survived by his younger brother, Norman Brunton of Escondido, Calif.

Although Gerry was in the late stages of Alzheimer’s and had a heart condition, he maintained his sense of humor and knew his family until the end. The end
of his life was peaceful. He was with the staff at Odd Fellows, who had cared for him so lovingly in the time he spent with them.

Gerry was an accomplished man. He was a graduate of Walla Walla High School where he was a popular
and active student. He served in the U.S. Navy twice, first when he enlisted at age 17. During WWII and the Korean War, he worked in responsible positions.

He had a gift for finance and worked in payroll. After the Korean War, he attended WSC in Pullman, and graduated with a degree in economics. He was also a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity in college. He celebrated his “Diamond Grad,” 60th college graduation, last spring.

When he returned to Walla Walla, he started dating the local young ladies, with whom he was very
popular. He met Glenna Dunham at the Pioneer Methodist Church, and after a brief courtship, they were
married in the church on Oct. 10, 1954. After working at Production Credit, he took a job at Baker Boyer National Bank, where he worked until he retired as senior vice president. Glenna and Gerry were married 53 years until her death in 2007. The had one child,
Becki Paup, of Richland, Wash.
Since Gerry lived and worked in Walla Walla the majority of his life, it seemed like he knew most of its citizens. No one had a bad word to say about Gerry.

Most mentioned how kind he was and how much they liked him.
In addition to Becki Paup, Gerry had two grandchildren, Stephen and Emily Paup of Kennewick. He
is also survived by his former son-in-law, Greg Paup of Kennewick; his brother, Norman (Phyllis) Brunton of Escondido, Calif, and their children, Derek Brunton (Denise), Julie (Brunton) Woodruff (Scott) and son
Taylor, all of California.
