Georgene Mary Grant

July 8, 1934 — April 15, 2015

Georgene Mary Nelson Grant died
peacefully at her home on the farm near
Prescott on April 7, 2015. Georgene
was born July 8, 1934, in Tacoma to Virgil and Irene
Masterman Nelson. She moved with her parents and
sister to Walla Walla when she was 8 years old to a
wheat ranch at Rulo. She attended Rulo one-room
school house and was the only student in her eighth grade
graduation class. A graduate of Walla Walla
High School in 1952, she then attended Washington
State College and was a member of Delta Delta Delta
Sorority.

On April 15, 1956, she married Samuel Oscar Grant
Jr., at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Walla Walla.
They lived their life and raised their family outside
of Prescott on the family farm.

Georgene was one of the founding members of the
Walla Walla Wagonettes and a Fair Farmerette in
1952. She was a life member of Junior Club and a
member of P.E.O. Chapter CI.

Survivors include her sister, Virginia Kent; aunt,
Mary Ellen Miller, both of Walla Walla; daughter,
Monesa Grant and husband Curtis Walker
of SeaTAc; son, Mark Grant and wife Miriam of
Prescott; grandchildren, Michael Walker (Bridgette
Castanellos) of El Cajon, Calif., Christina Walker of
La Mesa, Calif., Joseph Walker of SeaTac, Amber
(Raymond) Pope of Prescott, Erin (Jordon) Bennett
of Cheney, Wash., RaeAnn Grant of Spokane, Michael
Grant of Prescott, Hannah Grant of Prescott;
great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Jacob Walker of
El Cajon, Calif., Hunter Pope of Prescott, Maximilian
Bennett of Cheney; sisters-in-law, Mary Grant
Tompkins of Prescott, Nancy Grant and Patti Grant
of Walla Walla; brother-in-law, Joe Grant of Walla
Walla; many nephews and nieces. Georgene was preceded
in death by her parents and her husband.

Rosary will be Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at 5:30 p.m.
at Herring Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be
Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick
Catholic Church. Burial at Ivy Cemetery in Prescott
followed by a reception luncheon at the Prescott Lions
Hall.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made
to Ivy Cemetery in Prescott, Salvation Army of Walla
Walla or the charity of your choice through Herring
Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA
99362.
