Bryce’s faith became sight on March 12, 2017, when he entered the presence of his Savior surrounded by his family in Spokane.
George Bryce Henline was born 1937, in Walla Walla, to Floyd and Marie Henline. As a young man, he worked at his parent’s restaurant the Pollyanna. After graduating from high school, he ventured out with the help of his father to open Chicks Drive-in, a local favorite for many years. Eventually, he moved on to develop his love and talent for landscaping. He co-owned a landscaping business and then worked at the Walla Walla Memorial Golf Course. Later he worked for Walla Walla Community College developing the grounds and continuing on as the grounds supervisor for over 15 years.
Bryce was married to his wife, Yvonne, for 43 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daryl; and his son, Floyd. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; daughters, Ronda (Mark) Fenster, Julie (Chris) Waters, Jill (Todd) Patrick; his son, Paul (Jodi); and his sister, Joan (Larry) Summers; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Bryce loved to help and serve others, volunteering many hours at the church in whatever capacity was needed. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating along with water and snow skiing, especially in his younger years. The many hours he spent working on his garden produced a great deal of fresh fruits and vegetables which were enjoyed by his family and many other lucky recipients. His family is very thankful for his love and example.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla, followed by a celebration of life at 4 p.m. at Blue Mountain Community Church. Donations can be made to the Christian Aid Center in Walla Walla through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla.
