Gale Patrick Owsley

November 25, 1942 — January 23, 2018

Sunnyside

Gale Patrick Owsley, Sr. grew up in the lower Yakima Valley, where his school yearbook states that he aspired “to be a jet-mechanic or a farmer”, and truly, he lived to be a Mr. Fix-It and a very kindhearted man who loved to care for others.

Gale joined the Teamsters union and spent time working at Boeing in Seattle, later working at the Safeway Food Production plant in Grandview, driving forklift and running productions lines for over 20 years to provide for his family, whom he loved.

Gale also didn’t mind getting dirty or doing messy work to help others in need.  He volunteered his skills to help many other people with their landscaping, cleaning, moving, and home-repair needs, and he would be seen in his overalls and pickup truck, running errands all over town, helping others.

His kindness and tenderness of spirit was very evident when Gale was with children, especially his grandchildren.  He would stop what he was doing and drop to his hands and knees to play catch, be a pony, read to them, or just to be silly and laugh with them – sometimes it was hard to tell who was laughing more!

Best of all, Gale lived with a long-time Christian faith and hope in Jesus.  Now, he can see, hear, and worship the Lord as fully and freely as he has wanted.

Gale will best be remembered for his kindness and generosity in helping others, his long-time love of NASCAR, and his late-night snacks of chocolate and popcorn.  We are very grateful to have known him and to have been loved by him.  His love and his laughter will long be remembered.
