Gail Louise Roberts

Gail Louise Roberts, 83, of Walla Walla, Washington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 20, 2026, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center.

She was born on August 9, 1943, in Columbia, South Carolina, to Howard and Irene Wohrle.

Gail married Albert (Abe) Roberts on May 11, 1962, and they had two children, Richele and Lonnie. Gail and Abe moved to Walla Walla in 1965 for Abe to begin his career in education.

She attended Deer Park Schools and graduated from high school in 1961. She worked as a dental assistant before becoming a full-time homemaker. Later in life, Gail returned to dental work and also worked as an administrative assistant for the Walla Walla Public Schools.

She volunteered her time and gifts as a children’s ministry director, soup kitchen volunteer, youth leader, and Sunday School teacher, and she was an active member of the church choir for 61 years at Pioneer United Methodist Church. She participated in mission trips to Mexico and Jamaica over the years, helping with building projects, working in orphanages, and sharing the gospel.

She was active in the community for many years as a Junior Club member, volunteered at Children’s Home Society and the STAR program, read to children at the YWCA, and was involved in various other organizations.

Gail enjoyed spending time with family at the family lake cabin, camping trips over various parts of the United States, trips to the ocean, and loved attending Mariners games in person and watching Mariners and Seahawks games on TV. She enjoyed spending time outside in her flower garden and watching the wildlife in her yard.

She loved and supported her children and grandchildren in all their activities, whether it be music, sporting events, or school activities. It gave her great joy having her grandchildren grow up in the same community.

Gail is survived by her daughter Richele Locati (Michael), Walla Walla, WA; son Lonnie Roberts (Martha), Walla Walla, WA; brother Keith Wohrle (Karen), Deer Park, WA; sister Diana Evenson (Joel), Walla Walla, WA; brother Greg Wohrle (Julie), Eagle River, AK; Six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; Spencer Locati (Andrea), Easton and Callan Locati, Colbert, WA; Krystal Roberts, Spokane, WA; Kyndal Mullin (BJ), Ellensburg, WA; Kadin Roberts, Walla Walla, WA; Mariah Locati, Waco, TX; Ethan Locati, Spokane, WA and many extended family members. Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Abe Roberts, and her parents, Howard and Irene Wohrle.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Herring Funeral Home. A private family interment will be in the morning before the Celebration of Life service. The Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Pioneer United Methodist Church, 209 E Birch St, Walla Walla, WA.
