Frank William "Bill" Scholl

Bill Scholl, a lifelong resident of Walla Walla, passed away December 27, 2013 at his home.

Bill was born December 3, 1931 in Walla Walla, Washington to Frank & Alta Bristol Scholl. He attended College Place grade school & Walla Walla High School graduating in 1950. He enlisted in the Marines and served with the 1st Marine Division during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart.

Upon his return from the Marines, Bill enrolled & graduated from Kinman Business School in Spokane. On February 5, 1956, Bill married Elaine Landoni. Bill loved trapshooting, hunting, bowling & riding his bike, especially to the Mill Creek Reservoir. He especially loved hanging out with his grandchildren, the big events being the Balloon Stampede, chasing balloons & Walla Walla fair time.

Bill worked for Prutsman Plumbing, W.R. O’Rourke Mechanical, G&L Mechanical and Burgin Mechanical. Bill is a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association, Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion. He was a former member of the Walla Walla Jaycees, the Walla Walla Gun Club, the Men’s Bowling Association and the Walla Walla Eagles.

Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elaine; daughters, Kerry (Brad) Novak of Rathdrum, ID, Cheryl (Michael) Lasher of Pendleton, OR, Patty (Dan) Blakely of Walla Walla; sons, Michael Scholl of Post Falls, ID and Randy (Judy) Scholl of Kirkland, WA; sister, Mary Ann (Jim) Talley of Chelan, WA; brothers, Don (Sandi) Scholl of Edmonds, WA and Roger (Cheryl) Cockerline of Walla Walla, WA; his grandchildren, Jessica (Jake) Salisbury, John Novak, Alex & Erin Lasher, Lance & Vince Blakely, Shelby & Carlee Scholl and Ben & Brady Scholl. Also surviving are his aunt, Roberta Seaton of Wilson, WY; in-laws, Gary & Nancy Thompson of Richland, WA, Joe & Kathy Landoni of Walla Walla, WA, Don & Betty Scoralle of Brentwood, CA, Louis & Lenore Zaro of Walla Walla, Harry & Lois Zaro of Everett, WA and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Oliver Cockerline; infant granddaughter, Isabella Lasher & numerous aunts & uncles.

Viewing & visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice, Disabled Veterans Fund or charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home.
