Former Walla Walla resident Fortino
“Tino” Gonzales Jr., 56, passed away
Aug. 9, 2012, at his home in Olympia after
a short illness.
He was born on March 7, 1956, in
Edinburg, Texas, to Fortino Gonzales Sr. and Blanca
Evelina Thatcher.
Tino had made his home in Olympia for the last 25 years. While there, he was self-employed, working for his company TAG Welding. Fortino served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Paul Revere, from 1973-1977.
Survivors include his parents of Walla Walla, Fortino and Blanca Gonzales; two sisters, Gloria (David) Hansen of Waitsburg, Belinda (Lupe) Mercado of Walla
Walla; brother, Eddie Gonzales of Walla Walla; numerous nieces, nephews and uncles. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rudy Gonzales.
A rosary will be held at Herring Funeral Chapel on
Friday, Aug., 31, 2012, at 6 p.m. Officiating will be Olegario
and Dora Reyes. A private memorial service will
be held at a later date.
