On Tuesday, May 8, 2018 Floyd James “Jim” Jensen passed away at the age of 72 after battling complications arising from heart surgery for two months. He will forever be remembered by his family and friends.
Floyd was born October 17, 1945 in Tucson, Arizona and was a long time resident of the Walla Walla Valley. He attended Waitsburg High School prior to enlisting in the United States Army. He served 13 years in various theatres to include stations in Thailand, Germany, and Panama. Following his military service he worked as a correctional officer at Washington State Penitentiary until his retirement at the age of 68.
Floyd had many joys in life. He loved assisting family by helping teach and maintain homes and vehicles. He loved driving his classic cars and was a member of local auto groups.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jensen. His four children; Floyd Jay Jensen, Barbara Jean Rhode, Michael James Jensen Sr., and Elizabeth Jennifer Goodwin were at his side when he passed. He will be beloved in memory by his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:30AM with Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. A luncheon will then be held at Blanchett Hall, St. Patrick Catholic Church, immediately following the interment.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society or the University of Washington Medical Center through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
