College Place

Evelyn Joanne Todd Hull passed away peacefully at Providence St Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, WA on February 7, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born in Ionia, MI to Samuel Colon and Josephine Caroline (Sams) Todd on July 7, 1930. She was one of ten children in a close-knit, loving family. After a five-year courtship, Joanne traveled to Panama to marry Robert (Bob) Edgar Hull, who was stationed there in the military. They were married on December 6, 1952, and honeymooned there until he was discharged from the Army six months later. Joanne and Bob had a loving and fulfilling marriage of 71 years during which they raised six children together.

She was a homemaker who raised her family and supported her husband without complaint through college and subsequent construction projects which involved moving from Michigan to many locations in the Pacific Northwest, finally retiring in College Place, WA. The family made trips back to Michigan every two years. On one trip, Bob couldn't get the time off, so Joanne bravely loaded up six kids and a tent trailer and made the trek on her own with Bob, meeting them in Michigan for the trek home. She had many interests including collecting cardinals, bells, plates, and Hull pottery. She enjoyed quilting and headed up the quilting group at the College Place Presbyterian Church where she and Bob are members. She did extensive research on the Hull and Todd genealogies. She loved bowling and often watched bowling on the TV with her notebook to keep score. Her family would tease her about her "Big Time" Bowling as it came on before Big Time Wrestling. She volunteered to transcribe Braille during one of her husband's construction projects that kept him away from home during the week and continued to transcribe Braille for several years afterward.

She is survived by her husband Bob, sister Kathy Jones, Ionia, MI; brother Steve Todd (Charlotte) Vasser, MI; brother-in-law Harold Hull (Julie) Ionia, MI; sister-in-law Janet Hull Ionia, MI; six children Lisa Gail Bullington (Tom) Elma, WA; Todd Robert Hull (Connie) Richland, WA: Julia Kay Johnsen (Gary) Central Point, OR: Kevin John Hull (Karen) Richland, WA; Erin Joanne Connelly(Todd) Sandy, OR; and Alison Jean Norling (Jim) Happy Valley, OR and 15 grandchildren plus four bonus grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Shirley Murphy, Jean Peselli, Marge Weisgerber, Ken Todd, Marilyn Northard, twins Philip Todd and Phyllis Nystrom, and two great-grandchildren, Frankie Stofflet and Milo Smith.

The Hull family wishes to acknowledge and commend the 3rd floor staff of Providence St Mary Medical Center for the excellent care and compassion shown during the difficult passing of our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. It was greatly appreciated. Also appreciated has been support from the loving College Place Presbyterian Church family and a multitude of friends. She will be missed.

A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, a remembrance can be made to the College Place Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund at 235 NE Damson, College Place, WA 99324; www.cppc.us.
