Eva K. Martin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at the age of 93.
Mrs. Martin was born May 19th, 1924, in Walla Walla to Ambrose Arbini and Caroline T. Arbini. She attended College Place Public School and graduated from Walla Walla High School. Upon graduation she entered the St. Mary School of Nursing and graduated as an R.N. in 1945 and was employed by the St. Mary Hospital. In 1946 she married Gail Martin upon his return from World War II.
In 1951 Gail and Eva started an archery business which was then called Blue Mountain Archery, but in 1956 the name was changed to Martin Archery. Mrs. Martin joined her husband in the business as secretary, bookkeeper, and roust about. As the business grew, they hired more and more employees. She eventually became the Corporate Executive Secretary and served as company nurse. Eva personally coordinated having the Martin Archery Mamba Bow shoot the flaming arrow that lit the Olympic Torch at the 1992 Barcelona Opening Ceremony in Spain.
She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Blue Mountain Archery Club, charter member of the Prospect Point Home makers, Lifetime member of the Walla Walla Hi Alumni, Lifetime member of the Washington State Nurses Association, and numerous business related originations.
She enjoyed traveling, and had much opportunity to do so extensively with her husband, both domestic and abroad. She was an avid reader of mystery stories, and also collected music boxes. She was a devoted wife, mother, and also grandmother and great grandmother.
Surviving are her two sons and a daughter in law, Terry Martin, Dan and Rebecca Martin all of Walla Walla. Seven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Viewing and Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29th, 2017 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00PM, Monday, October 30th, 2017 at Mountain View Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society or to the Charity of your choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home 315 W Alder Walla Walla, WA.
