Eugene Aliverti, 82, lifelong resident of Walla Walla, died of complications of an autoimmune disease on January 2, 2018. Gene was born in 1935, to Frank and Linda Aliverti. Gene and his wife JoAnn, met in high school and were married in 1956 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Gene was a farmer, growing Walla Walla Sweet Onions and various vegetables on the family farm. He also worked as a produce manager at Safeway for 10 years. His family and his farm were his pride and joy. He and JoAnn enjoyed traveling after retirement.
Gene is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his four children, Steve Aliverti, Melanie Aliverti, Darrin and wife Dawn Aliverti, and Barry Aliverti; grandchildren, Aaron, Tiffany, Parker, Megan, Carson; and great-grandchild, Brooklyn. He was also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Greer Allen; nephews, Lance and Lincoln West, Scott, Geoffrey and Doug Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marilyn.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Church with Father David Gaines, Officiant. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
