Esther (Haffner) Cooper

Esther (Haffner) Cooper (96) passed away peacefully, from natural causes, with family by her side, on January 7, 2023. Esther is survived by her sisters, Thelma Hillsten and Rachel Hansen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Esther was born to Fred and Elizabeth Haffner on May 17, 1926, in Keenesburg, Colorado. Esther was one of 17 children and grew up helping with farm life; I have heard tales of milking cows and topping beets. Esther married James (Buster) Cooper on April 3, 1948, in Denver, Colorado. Esther and Buster lived in the “Cabin” up on the mountain in Morrison, Colorado. They shared many gatherings with friends and family at the Cabin, with Buster making his famous barbeque. Through the years, many nieces and nephews were privileged to spend time with them, eating, playing, and working with them at the Cabin.

In 1983 Buster and Esther moved to Prescott, Washington, to live close to Esther's sister, Thelma, and Busters favorite brother-in-law, Glen (LOL). During the years in Prescott, they made a home that was welcoming to whoever stopped by. Esther always had a cookie or pie ready to share. In 1993 after the loss of her dear husband Buster, Esther and her sister moved to Kennewick, WA, to be closer to Thelma’s daughters and their families.

Esther blessed the lives of everyone she touched. By Esther’s request, we will only be having a graveside service at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, 300 SE Myra Rd, College Place, WA 99324, at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, January 28, 2023.
