Estella Armijo Lugo, 85, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, in her home in Walla Walla. She was the wife of Gilberto Lugo, Sr., with whom she shared 39 years of marriage before his passing in 2022. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her.
Estella was born to Manuel Badillo Armijo and Esther Castilleja Armijo in Edinburg, Texas on April 22, 1940. She was one of 12 children. At an early age, her family migrated to Walla Walla, Washington.
Estella worked many jobs during her lifetime. The one that gave her the most joy and happiness was helping raise two of her granddaughters, Camina and Kimiko Hirota. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family. She was known for her delicious cooking and unconditional love and loyalty to her family and friends.
She will forever be cherished by her children, Nancy Jensen, Paul Lee Gonzales, Jr., Irene Gonzales (Kirk Hirota), Daniel G. Gonzales (Diane), and Juanita Gonzales-Petersen (David), as well as her 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Estella is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five brothers, six sisters, and one grandson. She is the last of the Armijo children to pass. All of their legacies will continue on through their children.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
