Elverta Margaret Jacobsen

E lverta Margaret Jacobsen, 84, passed away on December 18, 2015, in her home surrounded, with love, by her family. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Chaplain Keith Canwell will officiate.

She was born on November 1, 1931, to Leo and Margaret Conrad, she was the second of 13 children. She met and married Neil Schaub in 1948 and later divorced. They had three children. She worked at D & K Frozen Foods in the Personnel Office until retiring in 1993. It was there that she met Michal Jacobsen, fell in love and married on October 12, 1984, and were married until his death February 11, 2015. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist.

Elverta had a kind and loving spirit whose smile was like the sunshine and her laughter filled the air. She was an Earth Angel who shared her love with all she met and was loved by those in return. She was a dedicated and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She had a special love for and connection to any and all children, she shared her smile freely and loved to interact with every child she saw and would not stop trying until she not only had their attention, but convinced them to share a smile or a giggle. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mom you always have been and always will be our bright and shining star! We love you!

Elverta is survived by her three loving children, David Schaub and wife Linda, Michael Schaub and Neiola Duffy and husband Ted. She also has four step children, John Parker IV and wife Julia, Inta Wood and husband Mark, Andy Jacobsen and wife Cyndi and Merry Robertson and husband Pat. Seven sisters, Geri Holman, Lucy (Keo) Tiedemann, Sharon Ruble, Carrie Russo, Ginny Wright, Bev Barksdale and husband Ed and Nimmi Moon and husband Danny, four brothers Larry Conrad and wife Jean, Jerald Conrad, Richard Conrad and wife Shirley, and Delbert Conrad. She also has 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Conrad, mother, Margaret Conrad Allbee, sister, Juanita Phillips and grandson, Patrick Duffy.

Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice and Providence St Mary’s Cancer Center in care of Herring Groseclose Funeral Home at 315 W Alder St, Walla Walla, Wa 99362.  Special viewing at Herring Groseclose Funeral home on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
