Elizabeth Jean Davis was born in Walla Walla, Washington to parents William & Anna Davis. They were naturalized Irish immigrants, arriving in Walla Walla valley in the early 1900’s.
Elizabeth graduated from St. Vincent’s Academy & St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She worked at Virginia Mason in Seattle & took graduate courses at Seattle University. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years at Walla Walla Veteran’s Hospital.
She obtained her nursing education degree at Walla Walla College in 1956 before joining the US Navy in 1957, serving 3 ½ years of active duty. She then went on to take several graduate courses from University of California-Berkeley and the University Medical Center in San Francisco. She remained in the Naval Reserves upon returning to Walla Walla where she retired at the rank of Commander after 13 years of service.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church as well as Assumption in her later years. She was a member of the Reserve Officer’s Association, Catholic Daughters of America Court of St. Cecelia and St. Mary’s Alumni Association.
Elizabeth spent the last of her years in Park Manor Rehabilitation facility where she received loving & supportive care.
She is preceded in death by her four siblings, Myron T. Davis, Mildred Davis, Anna Mae Knowles & Edward Davis. She is the last direct descendant of this long-time Walla Walla family. Elizabeth is survived by a niece, several nephews, grand nephews & nieces.
She requested no service or memorial but a celebration of life will be held at a later date by her surviving family. Arrangements made by Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, St. Mary Auxiliary or the Herring House through the funeral home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
