Elaine Lavonne Montgomery

Elaine passed away at home from complications of dementia and cancer on September 24, 2014 after blessing her family with 80 years of love and laughter.

Elaine was born in College Place, WA on June 4, 1934 to Mary and Mario Castoldi. A graduate of Walla Walla High School, she married Dale Montgomery on March 7, 1954 and raised their three children while working full time.

In Elaine’s earlier years she taught a 4H sewing group and was proud of their many accomplishments at the fair competition. She was a beautiful seamstress and it was a very rewarding experience for her.

Elaine’s Secretarial work began at Walla Walla Canning and transitioned into a career as a Legal Secretary with Harley Allen Attorney until his retirement. Passionate about her work, the clients and people she interacted with on a daily basis, she continued her career with Reese & Mitchell Attorneys until she retired from Reese & Baffney.

She is survived by her spouse, Dale; son Greg; daughter, LaVonne (Jeff); daughter in law, Jill; four grandchildren, Brandon, Chase, Andrea and Ashton; brothers, Rich, Dennis, Ken; and sisters, Delores, Beth and Donna. She was preceded in death by her parents and a beloved son, Scott L Montgomery.

A private family service will be held at the Herring Funeral Home on October 4, 2014. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
