Edna (Lee) R. Whited, 87, a 53-year resident of Walla Walla County, passed away on January 22, 2024, at Eagle Springs in College Place, WA. Edna was born January 14, 1937, in Long Beach, CA. Edna graduated from Helix High School in La Mesa, CA. She pursued an education in music at Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music and later received her Bachelor of Arts (Education) at San Diego State University, along with a minor in music. Edna was teaching elementary school in the La Mesa area in 1964 when she met the love of her life, Jerrel Lee Whited. They were married in Los Angeles on September 16, 1966.
Edna was best known for her love of birds, cats, gardening, church, homemaking, and music. She was a substitute teacher for many schools in Walla Walla Valley.
Edna is survived by her beloved husband, Jerrel; their sons, Jim, Paul, John, and Ben; their daughters, Ruth and Sarah; along with many grandchildren.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents, Leatha and Lawrence Runnels, and her son, Ronald Lee Whited.
A viewing and visitation will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 9:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, followed by a burial at the Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens.
