Dorothy Spanish Wiese

Dorothy Wiese, 85, our beloved wife, sister, mother and nana died Aug. 13, 2012 at Regency at the Park. She was born April 20, 1927 to Angelina and Frank Spanish in Walla Walla. She was the fifth of six girls. Dorothy spent her life in Walla Walla. She graduated from St. Patrick’s
High School in 1944. Later that year she married George N. Wiese and together they had two children, Linda and George.

Dorothy was an accounting supervisor for General Foods Corp. which later became D&K Frozen Foods and then Stokely’s USA at the time of her retirement in 1990. Through the years, Dorothy enjoyed bowling, playing golf, reading and crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy was her family.

She was a wonderful cook, preparing elaborate Italian meals for family and friends. One could never leave her house hungry! She particularly loved playing family card games late into the evenings as she took all the winnings (and then slipped them to the grandchildren)! Her favorite travel spot was the Oregon Coast where many family vacations were spent over the years. We will miss her dearly and she will forever be in our
hearts.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters Yolanda Ferris, Mary Schneidmiller and Rose Pugliese. She is survived by her husband George, sisters Angie Spanish and Virginia Kupfer, children Linda Harrigan and George Wiese, four grandchildren, Kathy Kleeberger and husband Terry, Ryan Harrigan and wife Jennifer, Nicholas Wiese, Dustin Wiese and four great grandchildren, Collin and Chase Kleeberger, Madison and Jackson Harrigan.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Services will be held at Assumption Church on Tuesday,
Aug. 21, at 1 p.m., where Dorothy was a longtime member. Memorials can be made to the Herring House, DeSales Youth Tuition Program or St. Vincent De Paul through the Herring Funeral Home.
