Dorothy E. Chipman

April 28, 1917 — November 14, 2014

Dorothy was born in Walla Walla on
April 28, 1917, to James and Mary Winkle. She attended Jefferson School and Walla Walla High School, graduating in 1935. She
married Cecil Chipman on June 19, 1937, in Dayton.

Dorothy was employed at Birds Eye and D&K Foods
for more than 30 years, retiring in 1982. After her
retirement she was the morning elevator operator at
the Drumheller Building until Dec. 7, 1999.

She is survived by one son, Gene (Linda) Chipman
of Ridgefield, Wash.; three daughters, Dorothy Gay
Peterson of Pendleton, Leila (Ramone) Hust and
Donna Schenk of Walla Walla; nine grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil,
in 1971; sisters, Pearl Smelcer, Beulah Clemens and
Myrtle Winkle; brothers, Andrew Winkle and Carl
Winkle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at
1 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, where she
was a longtime member. There will be a private burial.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be
made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation, Blue
Mountain Humane Society or Grace United Methodist
Church through Herring Grosclose Funeral
