Doris Martha Ramsey

Doris M. Ramsey, 83, passed away peacefully at home with her family, on March 12, 2015. She was born in Denver, Colo., on July 15, 1931, to John and Martha Weingarten.

Doris grew up and attended schools in Denver. On July 17, 1955, she married Joe M. Ramsey and moved to Climax, Colo., where Joe was a mining engineer.

Over the years Doris gave birth to five children, Donna, Pauline, Larry, Barbara and Joyce. The family moved to various locations with the mining company, which included nine years in Denver, eight years in Granby, Colo., and twelve years in Tucson, Ariz.

Doris was a wonderful wife and mother. She was an amazing homemaker. She enjoyed traveling and visiting her family and friends. She visited over twenty countries between Narvick, Norway and Cape Town, South Africa. Doris was a long time standing member of Eastern Star. She also was an NRA certified firearms instructor and was an excellent shooter. Above all she cherished and loved her family and spoiled them with her cooking and baking skills. She was a master pie maker. Everyone who knew her realized how very special she was and loved her dearly.

Doris is survived by her husband; her children; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other family members.

Memorial Services will be held at the Country Estates Clubhouse at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015. A private family interment was held at the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla. Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice or charity of the donor’s choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
