Donald Baker, loving husband and devoted father, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the age of 91.
Donald was born in La Grande, Oregon, to James and Ona Baker. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 1945 to Jul. 1946 as a Fireman Second Class on the U.S.S. Salt Lake City. After serving, he moved to Walla Walla and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and later at the Washington State Penitentiary where he retired in 1984.
Donald is survived by Grace, his wife of almost 67 years; his four children and their spouses, Jim and Carol of Oro Valley, AZ, Bill and Elaine of Post Falls, ID, Paul and Robin of Gulfport, MS, and Donna Hansens of College Place; grandchildren, Greg, Brian, Glenn, Jennifer, Jim, John, Kevin, Amber and Donald; numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother, James Henry; and his son, John Edward.
The Baker family would like to thank the VA Medical Center and Walla Walla Valley In Home Care for their very kind and attentive care and to the staff of Regency at the Park for their care during his final days.
A Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. on December 8, 2018, at Walla Walla Presbyterian Church.
