Dewey G. Cleveland, 62, ended his battle with lung cancer on April 20, 2014 at his home in Walla Walla, Washington in the care of his loving family.
Dewey was born August 11, 1951 in Lake City, Arkansas to Georgia Lee Brown & Harvey Ray Brown. On October 7, 1977, he married his loving wife, Velma Louise Burke that he met in 1974 in Blythe, California.
Dewey’s line of profession was mechanics & carpentry. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. Dewey had a passion & talent for rebuilding vintage cars and trucks. He was a real handyman. He loved his wife’s home-cooked meals and watching the NFL, especially his beloved New England Patriots. He was very intelligent with an outstanding work ethic and could fix most anything. He provided support, guidance, love & stability for his family. He will be missed by his family & friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father & infant son, Shawn Michael Cleveland. Dewey is survived by his wife, Velma Louise Cleveland; his brother, Dennis Ray Brown; son-in-law, James Daniel; son, Dewey Gene Cleveland Jr.; daughters, Kelly Love Cleveland-Daniel & Tonya Jean Markham-Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Amanda Warren; his grandchildren, Haylee Markham, Destiny Markham, Stephen Cleveland, Daisey Cleveland, Matthew Cleveland, Gage Cleveland, Shawn Cleveland & Rollin Daniel.
Viewing & visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 1:00 PM also at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Regional Cancer Center through the funeral home.
