Denise Margarite Mann

Denise (Sissy) slipped away unexpectedly on Friday, May 3, 2019, she was just 73 years of age.  The beloved mother of her two sons, she had a heart of gold and was loved by all who knew her.

Born in Walla Walla to Robert L. and Virginia M. Baumgart on June 13, 1945, she was the third of four children.

Survived by brothers, Paul (Lillian) and Tom (Cathy) Baumgart; sons, Scott (Kimberly) and Michael (Stephanie) Mann; her good friend, Crayton; her extended family and her beloved dog, BoBo.  Preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Robert (Red Bird).

After a 42 year career at Whitman College, Denise retired as the Associate Controller in the business office.  She thoroughly enjoyed retirement, especially her frequent luncheons and many travels with her best girlfriends.  In addition, she volunteered with various charitable organizations including Exchange Club and Child Abuse Prevention Council, among others.

Denise was a talented, intelligent, thoughtful and loving mother, sister, surrogate grandmother and “Aunt Necie” to many.  She was generous with her time, energy, resources and love.

She had a green thumb and had a keen sense of style and design, which she employed in her life and her homes.  An excellent homemaker, seamstress, cook, decorator and entertainer, she is deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to a private Celebration of Denise’s life at the Big House Brew Pub (patio) at 11 S. Palouse St. in Walla Walla on June 22, 2019 from 2:30 to 5:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Walla Walla Catholic Schools Booster Club, St. Vincent de Paul, Blue Mountain Humane Society or your favorite charity through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla.
