Delpha May Wamble, beloved wife, mother, aunt and grandmother passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in College Place, Washington.

Born Delpha Mae Loney on May 12, 1926 in Walla Walla, she spent her early life on her father Milton Loney’s, wheat farm in Sudbury.

Early winter mornings would find Delpha and her older siblings, Jack, June and Robert clopping over the snow in a horse-drawn buggy on the way to school in Walla Walla. She attended Sharpstein Elementary and Walla Walla High School. Going on to attain a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from WSC, she worked as a social worker in and around Colfax. On January 31, 1948 she married Jim Wamble. They had two sons: Casey, who resides in Seattle with his wife Arissa and step-son Leo, and Kelly, who splits his time between Kenmore, WA. and Dayton with his wife Katy. They have two daughters, Emily Wamble and Stephanie Heitstuman and a son in law Brian Heitstuman.

Delpha worked as a book-keeper, first for ReCoupCo, founded by Jim Wamble in Portland, OR where she and Jim raised their family, and later at Greg Jones Travel in Walla Walla She lived an energetic and zestful life until her very last few years. She loved to paint and left her family and the world a collection of beautiful spirited art works.

Delpha was loved by many and scorned by none. She always had a kind word to say and usually a radiant smile. Delpha loved to sing and play the piano, and especially to dance. She knew how to have a good time. Delpha loved to golf, paint and travel. She and Jim took cruises to Russia, the Caribbean, Alaskaand many more exotic locales.

Delpha was a devoted member and President of the Delphian (no relation) Society in Portland, and P.E.O. in Walla Walla. Delpha was active with the PTA, bridge groups, exercise classes and is a Pi Phi.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 11:00AM at the Herring Funeral Home with Arissa Rench, Officiating. Reception will follow at the Marshall Hospitality House.
