Delbert Anthony Locati

Delbert Anthony Locati was born in Walla Walla, to Annabelle (Edwards) Locati and Anthony Joseph Locati.  He was one of three children.

Delbert attended St. Patrick’s School in Walla Walla, Davis School in College Place, Garrison Middle School, Walla Walla High School, and graduated in 1962.  He served in the U.S. Navy 1960-1966.  He attended Walla Walla Community College 1971-1972 and earned a degree in Auto Refinishing.  Delbert married Judy Marie Barker on July 22, 1964, in Milton Freewater. They later divorced.

Delbert was employed at the Washington State Penitentiary in 1964, and then worked at Roger’s Walla Walla Cannery (later named Chiquita Foods) until retirement.  He also owned and operated Locati’s Sandblasting and Anthony’s Inn (Tavern) for a time.

Delbert loved martial arts and trained in Jukado in his younger years, earning the rank of green belt.  He also trained in Kung Fu with Pollycarp Law, his instructor and friend.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, Harley Davidson motorcycles, watching western shows, and most of all, spending time with his family was very important to him. Delbert was a past member of the College Place Lion’s Club.

Delbert is survived by three children: Dene’ Royse (Wayne Royse), Janelle Locati of Walla Walla, and Tony Locati of Seattle; eight grandchildren: Meagan Remington, Aimee Royse, Dustin Royse, Morgan Locati, Mark Locati, Travis Locati, Terralyn Reid, and Ashley Locati; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Delbert is preceded in death by Anthony Locati (father), Annabelle Edwards (mother), Shawn Locati (son), Brandon Dunn (grandson), Sarah Locati (granddaughter), Karen Goodwin (sister) and Gregory “Chuck” Locati (brother).

Viewing will be held on August 16, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, A Funeral Mass for Delbert Locati will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church, 722 W. Alder St. on August 17, 2018, at 10 a.m.
