Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend Del Kennedy was born in Walla Walla, to Eddie J. and Roma Kennedy where he grew up with his one sister and three brothers. After graduating from Walla Walla High School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he returned to Walla Walla and married Donna Copeland at the White Temple Baptist Church in 1955. They raised their two children, Dave and Darci on the family farm. He worked at numerous occupations before finding his calling as a salesman at Madison Bionics before starting his own business, Kennedy Chemical Engineering. His interests included raising and training Appaloosa horses, Wagon Wheelers, chairing the Sasayama Sister City Committee, Walla Walla Community College basketball time keeper, avid outdoorsman and wood carving, where he won many blue ribbons. Del had an early passion for animals that led him to start Walla Walla Dog Trainers where he trained dogs for over 50 years.
Del is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna; their two children, Dave (Jen) Kennedy of Bonney Lake, Washington, and Darci (George) Bell of Walla Walla. He leaves one sister and one brother; grandchildren, Chelsea Berger, Cameron Kennedy and Zak Hamilton. Del was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 14 at 11:30 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery. Viewing will take place on Friday, January 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder Street. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fort Walla Walla Museum.
