David Russell Thompson

David Russell Thompson, age 70, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Walla Walla General Hospital.

Mr. Thompson was born on February 16, 1943 to Marvin & Rose Crater Thompson of Walla Walla where he attended school and graduated from Wa-Hi in 1961. Mr. Thompson worked as a prison guard at the Walla Walla State Penitentiary. He then joined the Army and served as an E-4. He retired in 1982. Mr. Thompson married Zorina Santos on July 6, 1989. He was a member of the Reno Lodge No. 13 in Nevada.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bruce and Foster Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Zorina Thompson; brothers, Larry and Daniel Thompson; sons, David Todd and Robert Lynn Thompson; step son, Jeremy Ferriols & wife Flor; step daughter, Jennifer Diaz; step grandchildren, Levin de Belen, JP Anthony Diaz, Patrick Diaz, Jared and Chloe Ferriols. He is also survived by his nieces, Beverly Kralman and husband Jason & Carol Thompson and several great-nieces and nephews.

Viewing & visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder. Walla Walla, WA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home.
