David was born August 10, 1951 in St. Cloud, MN to Jerome and Susan Stalberger. David graduated from high school in Peru Indiana in 1969. Soon after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served overseas during the Vietnam era.
After his discharge in 1973, David moved to Walla Walla, WA where he started his 26 year career at the Washington State Penitentiary. Shortly after David’s retirement in 2000, he was employed by The Walla Walla Superior Court as a Security Officer, where he worked until his death.
In 1976, David met his wife Nancy Lightle while both worked at the Penitentiary. David and Nancy would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on January 8th of this year. David and Nancy were joined by two sons, Bryce and Shawn. David was very active with both his sons. He coached their Little League baseball teams and soccer teams. He volunteered as a referee for the annual peach basket classic. David was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in numerous tournaments in Walla Walla. He was most happy when he was playing a round of golf with his sons.
David was a member of the VFW and a lifetime member of the Walla Walla Elks’ Lodge. He served in several roles at the Elks, including Exalted Ruler and Trustee.
David enjoyed traveling with family and friends throughout the years.
David was an avid sports fan. He loved the Seahawks, Mariners and, especially, the LA Dodgers. One of his favorite moments was celebrating his 60th birthday with both of his sons by attending an LA Dodgers game in Los Angeles.
In addition to his own sons, David’s happiest moments were the births of his grandsons: Rhett (age 5) and twins Otto & Rudy born Dec 18, 2017.
David is survived by his wife Nancy, their two sons Bryce and Shawn Stalberger, three grandsons Rhett, Otto and Rudy, and his five siblings Carole Baldwin, Linda Richards, Jerrolyn Lippert, Jackie Price, Tom Stalberger and Mitch Stalberger.
David was preceded in death by his parent and one sister Barbara Jo Stalberger.

David was much loved and respected. He will be missed by all those whose life he touched.
