Dave Barclay

April 27, 1921 — December 8, 2012

Mr Barclay was born April 27, 1921 at 710 East Main Street, Dayton, to Frank Barclay and Mae Cahill Barclay. His parents, grandparents and great grandparents were born in Columbia County and some of his great grandparents came west on the Oregon Trail in 1853.

He graduated from University of Washington in 1944 with Degrees in BA Economics and Business and Naval Science. Dave received commission in Naval Reserve as an Ensign upon graduation. He was in the Submarine Service in the Pacific during WWII.

On October 9, 1965, he married Kathryn “Kitty” Fisher Roberts in San Antonio, Texas. He joined the FBI in 1951 as a Special Agent and served in Denver, St Louis, El Paso, Pecos, Los Angeles, Bakersfield, CA and San Antonio. Dave retired on January 4, 1973 and while retired, he worked as Private Investigator and Security Representative for National Basketball Association (NBA) at San Antonio, TX. He was a member of Walla Walla Masonic Lodge #7, Society of Former Special Agent of the FBI and the Phi Delta Fraternity while at U of W. Since retirement in 1973, Kitty and Dave have traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Africa and the Orient.

Dave is survived by his wife, Kitty; his son and daughter-in-law John Barclay and Mary Hynes, Oakland, CA; his daughter, Mary Catherine Barclay, Hanford CA; his daughter, Jennifer Barclay, San Francisco CA; his stepson and daughter-in-law, Alan and Jerolyn Roberts, Eagle Point OR; his stepdaughter, Judy Godinez, New Braunfels, TX; his stepdaughter and son-in-law , Burton and Patricia Reibe, Kingsbury TX. He is also survived by his sister, Shirely Fouts and brothe,r Max Barclay, both of Walla Walla; 16 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Foster and an older brother, Darrel Gene Barclay.

Memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 323 Catherine St at 10 a.m. on April 13, 2013. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of your choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
